Food Intolerance & Allergy Testing

At Sozo Klenz, we partner with YorkTest – a UK leader with 38+ years of scientific expertise-to offer convenient home-to-laboratory blood tests and practical support. These tests are designed to help you understand possible reactions to foods and environmental triggers so you can make informed choices for your health and wellbeing.

How it works

  • Food Intolerance (IgG-mediated):

Sometimes, partially digested food particles can enter the bloodstream. The immune system may recognise certain proteins as “foreign” and produce IgG antibodies. This response may contribute to inflammation, which in some people is associated with symptoms such as bloating, headaches and tiredness.

  • Food Allergy (IgE-mediated):

A true allergy involves IgE antibodies and typically causes immediate reactions (often within minutes to 2 hours). Traces of the trigger can be enough to cause symptoms affecting the skin, airways and/or digestion.

These tests do not diagnose medical conditions. Results should be considered alongside your symptoms and professional advice.

Intolerance vs Allergy – key differences

Food Intolerance (IgG)

  • Reactions may be delayed (up to ~72 hours)

  • Several foods can be involved

  • Any body system may be affected

  • Common and hard to self-pinpoint

  • Symptoms may improve with guided avoidance (often 3–6 months)

Food Allergy (IgE)

  • Reactions are usually immediate (≤ 2 hours)

  • Fewer foods typically involved (often 1–2)

  • Often affects skin, airways, digestion

  • Trace amounts can trigger symptoms

  • Usually lifelong; requires medical oversight

Food intolerances can affect people differently, but common signs include:

  • Tiredness or low energy

  • Anxiety, low mood, or brain fog

  • Changes in bowel habits (e.g. diarrhoea)
